Get Fitter

WHAT DOES “GETTING FITTER” REALLY MEAN?

Getting fitter isn’t about looking like someone on social media.

It’s about building a body that is stronger, more mobile and more capable — and a mind that feels more balanced and resilient.

Fitness includes your cardiovascular health, muscular strength, mobility, flexibility, balance, coordination, body composition and your ability to recover.

And here’s the good news:

You don’t need a gym.
You don’t need hours every day.
You don’t need to be perfect.

You need movement that works for your body, nutrition that supports it, enough recovery — and consistency.

That’s the philosophy behind AfyaM and AFROGA.

1. FIND YOUR FITNESS DOSAGE

Think about exercise like medicine: the right dosage matters.

Too little movement may not provide enough stimulus for your body to adapt. Too much, too quickly, can leave you exhausted, frustrated or injured.

The goal is to find your dosage. Start by asking yourself:

How fit am I today?
What do I want to improve?
How much time do I realistically have?
What kind of movement do I actually enjoy?

AfyaM helps you define your goals and choose workouts that fit your level, your available time and your lifestyle.

Some days you may have 20 minutes. Other days you may have only 5.

Both count. Because consistency beats perfection.

2. MOVE YOUR WHOLE BODY

Adults should aim for at least 150–300 minutes of moderate aerobic physical activity per week, or an equivalent amount of vigorous activity, together with muscle-strengthening activities.

But fitness is more than cardio. Your body needs different challenges:

Strength to maintain muscles and bones. Cardiovascular exercise for your heart, lungs and endurance.

Mobility to help your joints move freely. Flexibility to maintain and improve your range of motion.

Balance and coordination to help you control your body. Power to maintain your ability to move quickly and dynamically.

That is why we created AFROGA.

AFROGA combines African-inspired dance and rhythm with bodyweight strength, mobility, flexibility, balance, coordination, power and yoga-inspired movement.

You can squat.
You can dance.
You can stretch.
You can jump.
You can balance.
You can breathe.

All within one movement system. And most importantly: Movement should be FUN.

Because the best workout isn’t necessarily the hardest workout. It’s the workout you want to do again.

3. SHORT WORKOUTS STILL COUNT

Don’t have an hour? Good news: you don’t need one.

Short periods of physical activity can contribute to your overall health and fitness.

A focused 5-, 10- or 20-minute session can challenge your muscles, cardiovascular system, balance, mobility and coordination. The key is intention and intensity appropriate to your fitness level.

With AfyaM, you can choose shorter sessions when life is busy and longer workouts when you have more time.

No gym. No expensive equipment. Just you and your body. Train anywhere.

4. EAT TO SUPPORT YOUR BODY

Exercise is only one part of health. Your body also needs the right building materials.

Instead of extreme diets and complicated rules, focus on foods that nourish you: Eat plenty of vegetables and fruits.

Choose whole grains and other fibre-rich foods. Include good-quality protein.

Choose healthy sources of fat such as nuts, seeds, avocado and olive oil.

Drink enough water. Reduce your intake of heavily processed foods.

But remember:

Healthy eating doesn’t have to mean perfect eating. Food is also culture, family, pleasure and connection.

The goal isn’t restriction. The goal is finding a way of eating that you can enjoy and sustain.

That’s why Nutrition is one of the three pillars of AfyaM’s NeW® approach: Nutrition, Exercise and Wellbeing.

5. TRAIN YOUR MIND TOO

You can have strong muscles and still feel exhausted. Health isn’t only physical.

Stress, sleep, recovery and emotional wellbeing all influence how you feel and perform.

That’s why AfyaM doesn’t stop when the workout ends. Alongside movement, you can explore wellbeing tools such as:

Meditation.

Breathing and relaxation.

Yoga Nidra and NSDR-style recovery.

Sleep-supporting sounds.

Pink and white noise.

African-inspired meditation.

Mind-body practices designed to help you slow down and recover. Because sometimes your body needs to move.

And sometimes it needs permission to be still.

6. RECOVERY IS PART OF TRAINING

More isn’t always better. Exercise creates a stimulus. Recovery gives your body time to adapt to that stimulus.

Sleep, hydration, nutrition, relaxation and rest days are therefore not signs that you’re doing nothing.

They’re part of the process.

Train.

Recover.

Adapt.

Repeat.

That’s how fitness develops.

7. BUILD CONSISTENCY — NOT PERFECTION

You don’t become fitter because of one amazing workout. You become fitter because you keep showing up.

Three sustainable workouts every week can be far more valuable than training extremely hard for two weeks and then stopping. So don’t chase perfection. Build a rhythm.

10 minutes today.

20 minutes tomorrow.

A walk.

An AFROGA session.

A run.

A mobility session.

A few minutes of meditation.

A good night’s sleep.

It all adds up.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO BECOME FITTER?

Your body can begin adapting to regular exercise surprisingly quickly, but noticeable improvements depend on your starting fitness, training, nutrition, recovery and consistency.

Instead of asking:

“How quickly can I transform my body?” Ask: “What can I do consistently for the next year?” That’s where lasting change begins.

DO I NEED A GYM?

No. Your body is already an extraordinary training tool.

Squats, lunges, push-ups, planks, jumps, balance exercises, mobility work and dance can challenge almost every major component of physical fitness.

AFROGA was created around this idea. Your body is your equipment.

HOW MUCH EXERCISE DO I NEED? You don’t have to do everything at once.

Build toward the recommended weekly amount gradually and combine cardiovascular activity with strength, mobility, flexibility and balance work.

And remember: Something is better than nothing. A short workout today is still a workout.
